Barrie Savory

The Good Back Guide

Back pain is an unfortunately common occurrence in today's society. In The good back guide Barrie Savory explains how we have adopted a lifestyle which doesn't suit the structure of our bodies and shows that this often leads to some sort of back problem. Admit it you're probably hunched up in a chair at this moment - and the computer mouse is a major culprit in this area. But help is at hand. Savory describes a few simple exercises that can help to deal with back pain within your typical daily schedule.

The book isn't just a list of symptoms and what to do about them though. It looks at the anatomy of the back and at how our actions affect it, as well as at the back problems which are likely to affect us at various stages of our lives. For those who need more treatment there is a discussion of Osteopathy, Chiropractic and Physiotherapy. I' recommend this book to everyone, both to those people who are suffering from some sort of back pain, and those who want to know what to do to prevent such problems later on in life.

Product Description
Not everyone has the time or money to visit a chiropractor or osteopath. This is a unique user’s guide to the prevention and treatment of back pain by a leading British osteopath.

A supremely practical and (surprisingly) entertaining users manual for your spine! *****
As a 6+ footer living in a small persons world and working at a laptop for the best part of my life, my back doesn't get the love it deserves and has an unfortunate habit of reminding me of my neglect on a monthly basis. Despite the fact that most of the remedies I seek work at least temporarily I was keen to learn some more about my spine to stop this constant annoyance.

This book did the job brilliantly and has actually helped me avoid a recurrence for 6 weeks and counting! I have changed the way I work, do the simple excercise regimes to break the tyranny of the laptop, and have actually become something of a pain to my work colleagues with my know-it-all commemnts about their postures. Above and beyond the obvious practical benefits, the author has managed to make the topic genuinely interesting and pretty much a page-turner. When you think about how important our back is to us, it is pretty amazing how little attention most of us give it. If you have any back issues - buy this book, if you don't - buy this book so you don't get any!!!

Great chiro *****
I went to Barrie some 20 years ago, and have been back occasionally with neck and back issues: he really is exceptionally good. Great self-help book
